Banner Personality.png

Before the Calamity, Link was a fairly well reserved person, only following directions as they had been told to him. His appointment as the Princess’ knight had drawn him into a closed off, and more tense demeanor, that which reflects the responsibility he feels to the kingdom of Hyrule. As Zelda had her problems with him, he equally had his own gripes. However, as the two got to know one another, he really began to grow a respect for the princess, and is more willing than ever to throw his life on the line if it meant protecting her.

After the events of the Calamity and Link’s 100 year sleep, his personality would shift. Having forgotten his memories, he’s a little less reserved and more of his old self before being appointed to Zelda’s Knight. He can be aloof, and pretty clumsy as well. However, his amazing dexterity and combat skills make up for this, as he can virtually pick up any weapon (or non-weapon) and use it skillfully in combat. If it weren’t for the Master Sword choosing him, he probably would have still been appointed as Zelda’s Knight regardless.

Link is selectively mute, and knows how to sign in multiple versions of Hylian sign language. Another one of Link’s interests besides cooking is trying new hobbies- that’s how he learned the different variations of Hylian, it’s also how he’s managed to work well with weapons other than just the sword in any situation, as well as his knowledge of the Hyrulean cuisines. He knows all the ups and downs of handling animals as well, could very well be considered an animal whisperer- this is ever apparent with how he treats his horses and his fondness for dogs.

In a social setting, Link tends to keep to himself, only chiming in when he feels it’s necessary. He can be sarcastic and witty, and is wonderful with children. Link isn’t afraid to break gender norms and go full blown crossdress if the situation calls for it- he’s not really a fashionista though, he would wear anything as long as it did what it needed to (i.e. wear a jacket to keep warm in the cold, etc).

Link can and will get distracted easily, he could be on a mission to one place, but go a roundabout way for the fact that he saw a rupee and wanted to pick it up- then he happened to spot a mushroom, and another, and another– Link is a packrat. He’s more than likely to have something on his person for no reason whatsoever (i.e. if someone asked for an apple he’d have one out on the ready).
By himself, he wouldn’t be afraid to do something stupid given the chance. It’s how he travels, meets people, and unknowingly solve puzzles set out for him. You could call these “Happy little accidents”, as he really has no clue what he’s doing most of the time, and when he achieves something, it’s satisfying in a way that’s like “oh, neat”.  In a social setting tries to keep himself humble, and is always more than willing to lend a hand to anyone that needs it.

Banner Backstory.png

100 years ago in his world, a great Calamity was said to sweep all of Hyrule into chaos and malice. In their prophecy, they foretold that four divine beasts, the hero chosen by the blade of evil’s bane, and the princess of destiny would all come together and fend off this evil in one spectacular battle. Link was the destined hero chosen by the blade of evil’s bane, since he was young he had trained himself in combat, his goal at the time being to get into the Hyrulean guard as simply a soldier. Destiny had other plans for him, as a trip to the Great Deku forest one day made him stumble upon the legendary Master Sword. It chose him to be its wielder, and with that came his promotion to the Princess’ Appointed Knight. This princess was the one destined to seal away the Calamity.

Hyrule had dug up four divine beasts that would have the power to take the Calamity down, and with those four divine beasts, four pilots were chosen by the Royal Family to ride these machines into battle when the day came. Mipha, piloting Vah Ruta; Daruk, piloting Vah Rudania; Urbosa, piloting Vah Naboris; and Revali, piloting Vah Medoh. Just as Link was destined to wield the sword that cut through darkness, the four Champions of their respective regions of Hyrule learned to tame the divine beasts and use them. Everything had seemed to be lining up perfectly, as it had 10,000 years prior to the Great Calamity. However, the princess was unprepared. She couldn’t connect with her sealing power soon enough, as the Calamity caught the heroes by surprise.

One by one, each of the Champions and their divine beasts fell to fragments of the whole Calamity. Link fought tooth and nail alongside the princess, whom had just about given up all hope. It wasn’t until Link came close to death himself that she had awakened her powers. With her power finally coming to surface, a renewed determination to fix everything had overcome the princess. She would take the fatally wounded hero to the Shrine of Resurrection in which he would spend the next 100 years resting and recovering.

After his long rest, as a negative side effect of the healing process, the hero had lost all of his memories of the princess and the Champions. After his work in the Great Plateau, the hero set off to recover his memories of the princess, as well as free the Divine Beasts from their corruption. It was a slow process, but he eventually would regain his memories of the princess as well as the Champions, free them and their respected divine beasts from the malice, and meet with the princess at Hyrule Castle to put an end to the 100 year long battle she had held. With his memories of the princess in tact, and the divine beasts calm, the two would begin working towards rebuilding Hyrule back to its former glory.

Banner Trivia.png
  • He loves food, I mean he really loves food. He has a fond appreciation for the varieties of the Hyrulean cuisine, even going so far as to eat a Goron Rock Roast.

  • He could probably differentiate what spices had been used in a dish, if he stopped to really relish the food as opposed to inhaling it like he usually would.

  • He had his gripes with Princess Zelda just as much as she did him. That changed though after she began opening up more to him.

  • He’s really good at tending to horses, as apparent from a past interaction with Zelda in regards to her horse.

  • He’s pretty short for his physical age, clocking in at 5’2”.

  • Physically he is 23 years old, but in actuality he would be considered to be 123 years old.

  • He’s not very good at sneaking, but his marksmanship makes up for this a good majority of the time.
