 Eight is a hot-headed warrior, with a bit of an ego. Typically the first to rush into battle without a plan—at least, not until he’s about to attack; he more often than not puts himself in dangerous predicaments that could have easily been avoided, had he thought things through beforehand. Not one to dawdle and preemptively search for spells in his mental deck, he’ll often be seen scowling and grumbling, but will throw caution to the wind and charge forth regardless.

 

 In spite of his outwardly irritable demeanor, he is very caring toward his party members; and is more than willing to put his life on the line for them. If one can manage to break through Eight’s “tough guy” exterior, they will discover quite the softie. Always the first to check if everyone in his party is okay before himself, Eight will often be the first to help others heal while being the last to tend to his own injuries. His softer side isn’t just exclusive to his friends. Animals—and to an extent, monsters—have received firsthand experiences of his kinder nature; especially his pet rodent, Munchie (He even made the little guy a small sword and armor set!). While knowing he must fight monsters, he secretly owns a few pet slimes named: Goobert, Goolyseus, and Gooletta.

 

 When evening arrives, Eight is usually the first to fall asleep. Though on the few occasions that sleep evades him, he can be seen gazing up at the starry skies to admire the...you know, stars. If he learns that a party member is down during the late hours, he will do his best to bring up their mood by playing games, using his limited knowledge to cook them something, or simply help them with a task that’s giving them trouble.

 

 Eight has quite the reputation for being a jokester—despite being selectively mute. Even when in a dire situation, he will try to crack a joke if it means relieving his party of stress (while secretly keeping his own worries from surfacing). Having learned to utilize Trodainian sign language over the years, he will attempt to make gestures that lead into a joke. Unfortunately, most people in this strange new world don’t understand his signs, causing most of his jokes to fall flat. But hey, it’s worth a shot! Maybe one day someone will actually understand his various gestures. When his sign language jokes fall flat, Eight will pull out a wooden flute that a friend once gave him. Though he might not look it, Eight is actually very good at playing songs on his instrument, and can try to boost party morale that way—so long as no one gets mad at him for “bringing unwanted attention to the group.” During particularly trying times, Eight will actually pull out his notebook and write down what he’s saying so others can understand him. If he has the energy for it, and all else fails, Eight will go as far as to play charades in order to get his message across—no matter how silly it might be.

 

 One will only discover Eight’s most authentic self when he’s tired. When exhausted from the day’s events, one will find a much calmer young man, who’s too worn down to act on an impulse. While in this state, Eight is like a partially open book, willing to discuss some of his burdens about being a hero, but never sharing the full extent of his woes. When he reveals too much, he’ll quickly try to hide his feelings by saying something along the lines of, “It’s hard, but fun!” Or, “There’s too many things that could go wrong, so I just stopped worrying!”

 

 Being the self dubbed “least favorite” of Lady Luck herself, Eight typically channels his Dragovian Blood and short temper into executing stronger attacks than his heroic counterparts; but typically doesn’t take into account that he can be hit, leading to him getting blindsided on several occasions and losing. While he has powerful magic in his command deck, he rarely gets to use it, because Lady Luck never gives him the chance or satisfaction!

 Eight is the son of Eltrio and Xia, making him Half-Human and Half-Dragovian and Prince of Argonia. The union of his parents came about when the latter became curious about the human world, and decided to explore it. After encountering Eltrio, Xia fell in love with the young man and spent time with him. Unfortunately, her father Chen Mui did not approve of the joining of a human and a Dragovian, feeling that true love could never develop between them, and forced his daughter back to the Dragovian Sanctuary.

 

 Some time after this, the body of Eltrio was found near the sanctuary's outskirts, having braved the immense dangers alone to reach his beloved. The death of her loved one devastated Xia, and day by day her very life force began to fade. Before joining Eltrio in the afterlife, however, Xia delivered their child in the sanctuary. Eight would then live among the Dragovians for several years as the council of elders debated what to do with the anomaly, until one day it was decided that his memories would be sealed, and that he would be banished from his people. His grandfather, realizing the youth was his last connection to his daughter, begged for permission to accompany his grandson. It was decided that he could do so, but only if he took the form of an innocuous mouse, and never spoke a word to him.

 

 One day while exploring the forest outskirts of the castle, Princess Medea of Trodain finds Eight collapsed with a fever with the help of Munchie. The young princess pleads with King Trode to help the boy since he could die out in the woods. Eventually, the castle guards bring Eight back in order to nurse him back to health. Medea stays at his bedside until he awakes, and the two would become close friends afterwards.

 

 An amnesiac since his early youth, Eight grew up in Castle Trodain, eventually serving as a guard for some time before the events of the prologue took place. For much of his adventure, Eight journeys with his faithful mouse, Munchie, King Trode, Princess Medea, and Yangus. Eight is eventually joined by Jessica Albert and Angelo, enlisting their aid in pursuing and confronting the wicked Dhoulmagus, and later Lord Rhapthorne.
